Patti Smith and Shepard made this play from the early 70's famous. Slim is kidnapped off the street by Cavale. At gunpoint, she wants to make him "a rock and roll Jesus with a cowboy mouth".

Sam Shepard is the dominant chronicler of the American myth in the theatre, and one of the great American playwrights of the last forty years. His plays include Buried Child, True West, Fool For Love, A Lie of the Mind, and Kicking a Dead Horse among many others.
